Q: What are Home Care Services?


A: The term 'home care services' refers to many different services for different levels of need. They can include companion or homemaker services such as grocery shopping, light housekeeping, running errands, reading aloud, meal preparation, transportation and medication reminders. They can also include 'personal care services' such as assistance with hygiene, toileting and bathing.
 
Q: What are the benefits of hiring from Special Care?
 
A: If you choose to hire a home caregiver through our company, you will be working with a state licensed  and  insured company that has been serving the community since 1982. We will  refer a caregiver and help you coordinate your visits. We interview, screen, verify credentials, run police checks, update documents, keep close communication with you for your satisfaction , refer replacement or fill in caregivers if needed .With this arrangement, you will be freed from administrative and other responsibilities involved in hiring a worker directly.
 
Q: What type of screening does the agency perform?
 
A: Criminal background check, previous employment verification and personal reference verification, one-on-one interview, skills testing, TB test, and Child Abuse Check and much more Please note other screening methods listed on this site.

Q: How long will I wait for service after placing my request?
 
A: You tell us the date you want care to start. That date is our target date, including same day service.
 
Q: Will someone from your company call to see if I am satisfied with the services provided to me?
 
A: Yes, we call to check on you to make sure you are satisfied with your Caregiver.
 
Q: How often will they call and check-in with me?

A: We check in with you frequently and encourage you to do the same. Open communication is the key to our success and your satisfaction.

 

Q: Will I be responsible for providing meals for the caregiver?
 
A: Not for Live-Out Caregivers, ONLY for Live-In Caregivers.
 
Q: Will my Live-in caregiver require a private bedroom?
 
A: Yes.
 
Q: Will my caregiver clean my house and do my laundry?
 
A: Caregivers do light housekeeping and laundry.
 
Q: Will you coordinate my care with my doctor?
 
A: We will gladly coordinate your care with your doctor.

 
Q: Whom do I call if my caregiver is unable to work?
 
A: Just call our office. We will refer you a replacement for the hours and days you need.
 
Q: What exactly is covered by your fees?
 
A: Recruiting, screening, matching and referring  of the highest quality caregivers available. Administrative fees ,  Licensing,  Insurance, on call personal  24/7 to assist you around the clock. Trained Care Coordinators and Recruiters plus our company's  28 years of home care experience .
 
Q: Will your company respond to requests for short notice services?
 
A: Yes.
 
Q: Is there an extra charge for these services?
 
A: No.
 
Q: How long will it take someone to return my call after business hours?
 
A: Normally, no more than 1 hour . There are occasions that warrant a longer call return  time due to our on call person handling another emergency at the time of your call. You can be assured your call will be returned as soon as possible and you and  your situation will be given the same undivided attention.
 

Q: How do I make changes to the initial caregiver schedule?
 

A: A phone call to our office and we will assist you in making the changes you need.
 
 
Q: Do the caregivers provide transportation if needed?
 
A: Yes. There is a  per mile charge if the caregiver uses her/his own vehicle while at work.
 
 
Q: Will my services be kept confidential?
 
A: Yes, privacy and confidentiality is the law. We will not share your information with anyone other than those you have directed us to speak to.
 
 
Q: Is there a minimum or a maximum number of hours of home care service per day?
 
A: Policies vary for each office. Please check with the office in your service area.

 
Q: Is there a minimum or a maximum number of hours of home care service per week?
 
A: There is no per week minimum or maximum.
 
 
Q: I'm not sure what I need - can you help?
 
A: Yes, our staff is trained to help you determine what services you may need, and how to best meet them.

 
Q: Do you accept insurance?
 
A: Yes, we accept most long-term care and private insurance plans.
 

Q: How do I file the claim?
 
A: You may submit a claim on your own or we bill them directly.
 
 
Q: What if I want more service then my insurance allows?
 
A: We will bill you for the remainder.
 
Q: How can I cancel the service I requested?
 
A: With a phone call to our office.
 
Q: How much is the cancellation charge?
 
A: There is no cancellation charge.
 
Q: Do I need to sign a contract with Special Care?
 
A: Yes, You sign a referral agreement that explains the dates and hours or service, billing, consumers rights and other important facts regarding our responsibility to you and yours to us as required by the department of health and normal business practice. You are in no way obligated to accept our referrals. You may cancel at any time.
 
Q: How do I pay for Home Care Services?
 
A: Private pay, Long Term Care Insurance and many other third party payers.

Q: How do I arrange for service?
 
A: With a phone call to our office. Our friendly staff can handle your request and make suggestions if needed.
